Message from the Chair
As we are about to embark on the 2015/2016 netball season, I wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on the previous year. It has had its ups and downs - the dissolution of Park Netball Club after 50 years was a sad day for us all, but with new clubs and teams (such as the undefeated Razzle Dazzle) joining our league, Swindon Netball is in good shape and the future looks bright.
This summer has been incredibly successful and I would like to thank Gemma Francis and Corinne Hunter for running the Summer League for the first time this season, as well as Tracy Watt and Holly Woodridge for organising all league tournaments. Mo Squires has worked hard as Netball Development Officer to grow the Swindon Vixens team, providing an opportunity for adults with learning disabilities to play netball on a weekly basis. We are also very pleased to welcome a number of new committee members, so please make sure you familiarise yourself with the new recruits and their roles before September.
The Netball World Cup is being held in August and with more netball being broadcast than ever before, we have a real opportunity to show everyone in the local area what a fantastic and sociable sport it really is. Let’s ensure that fun and sportsmanship remain the priorities throughout the upcoming season.
I am proud to Chair such a wonderful league and I look forward to welcoming all players – old and new – back in September.
